What became to be known as the first BSF edition took place in autumn 2003 and featured six dance performances, one conference, two musical acts, one video screening, two workshops and eight performances.

Placed under the generic theme of “Freedom” (free usage of  buildings, freedom in the invasion of public spaces or even in the creation of the body movements), the BSF was driven by the desire to open up to a body of artists from other Lebanese regions who were joined with Romanian and Cameroonian companies, hence enriching the dialogue between the public and the artists.
